Some political issues people feel really passionate about: should taxes be decreased, or should they receive more for their tax dollars, the healthcare bill is good, or bad; but foreign policy is not normally near the top of average joe’s cares… until he sees this funny motivational picture. This picture has 8, or 16 if you count each cheek, good reasons to be interested in foreign policy. All those born in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s – we made it

For all the kids born in the 1930′s, 40′s, 50′s, 60′s and 70′s !!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn’t get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we weren’t overweight because….. WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo’s, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms……. …WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no   lawsuits from these accidents. We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,   made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.     We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good and while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were. Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn’t it?

It seems that we have another example of bad English, aka Engrish, here as a sign promises the wrong thing. The funny sign reads: keep back from the platform edge or you may get sucked off. Someone has snapped this poorly worded sign and turned it into a Motivational Poster with a comment about waiting for an hour and not getting any joy. Obviously the two meanings of sucked off have been played with here.

Back with highschool mathematics today as some genius has decided to point out the obvious with this maths question. OK, maybe the question is a little ambiguous, but some precocious kid has decided to wind up his teachers with the joke answer he gives. Maybe he knew the formula to work out the length of x but just couldn’t resist the joke. Whatever the reason for his facetious answer it is funny and examiners must enjoy the brief moments of laughter that are all too rare.

More motivation, this time for teamwork

Sometimes in life a little motivation can pick someone up when they are down, inspire them to move forwards or help them get past obstacles. Well, these kids had a great obstacle in their path, but through ingenious thinking and teamwork they found a solution. There was no chair in front of the games console, so one of them got down on all fours whilst the other sat on his back and played… I just love the way they swapped at some point, true teamwork. If only all world issues could be solved this easily. In case they can here is the motivational poster:

Now, I hope you do not need this amusing motivational poster explained as this girl’s talent is obvious. She has the kind of gift men wish their women required, but usually don’t . Anyway, the witty caption underneath the funny picture sums it up quite succinctly and illustrates the different thought patterns men and women have when eying up a possible mate. This girl obviously understands how men think and uses that information to good effect.

It seems that diplomacy is an oft parodied term, as the range of motivational posters for diplomacy below bear witness to. There were more, but I thought these were the funny ones (feel free to link any others you know below in the comments). Also we have pop culture references to Star Trek, the original series not the new fangled variety, and 24, the hit TV show with Kiefer Sutherland, as well as the last American Democratic candidate election campaign between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Now here is a boy toy any star wars fan, or male in general, would want for Christmas. The amusing image below shows the Swiss army knife 3G S, 2.0, next generation, uber-cool lightsaber edition. As the funny poster says, “I don’t care who you are, you are still sitting there wishing you had one”. What other cool tools would you add onto a penknife if you could?

Fatherhood in the 21st Century – Kill the hooker and get your money back!

This is a great motivational poster, advertising the merits of teaching your children from a young age not to waste money on prostitutes when you can get their services and murder them afterwards in the game Grand Theft Auto (aka GTA). Fatherhood has never been so much fun, just set up your console and teach your child to break the law with comments like “Kill the hooker and get your money back“. Of course this is a case of irony before anyone claims that I am encouraging this sort of behaviour… it is just another post on DailyFunnyStuff.net, so check it out:

Blasphemy has never been so funny!

I love the motivational posters, where someone takes an image and adds a humorous title and comment. Well this has to be one of the better, funny motivational posters around, it is the kind of thing I can see me and my friends doing when we larked around at art galleries on school trips. It is one of those perfect moments of clarity when you look up and see not the Lord Jesus sacrificing himself for the world’s sins, but a camp man dancing to YMCA who needs a few guys to help him out. I will be adding all my favourite de-motivational and motivational posters over time so keep an eye out for plenty more, but for now enjoy the witty side of blasphemy…
